History of FlexRide Milwaukee
FlexRide Milwaukee was born out of a research study about connecting workers in Milwaukee with jobs in the Menomonee Falls/Butler area, conducted by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission. The study, funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, involved testing and evaluating a pilot on-demand transportation service (FlexRide). FlexRide services for this pilot program operated through fall 2022. Additional funding was secured by MobiliSE to continue and expand services after the pilot ended.
In June 2022, the State of Wisconsin awarded MobiliSE, a partner of FlexRide Milwaukee, a $4.2 million grant to extend FlexRide Milwaukee services through 2024 and allow FlexRide to expand to serve other communities in the region. Find more in our news section here. MobiliSE and partners are also pursuing other public and private funding sources.
